Last few days it has been grey and foggy in the forest. I snowwalked with my dog Siiri this morning and the snow was extremely wet. It was heavy to snowwalk but it is even heavier if you use only mudboots. Tomorrow it is the last day of hunting season of hare. I checked the possible hiding places under the trees but could not find any. There were many fresh tracks on moose and I also found old track of arctic cat.
It is always amazing how fastly the season changes. The day is long and the sun was shining today. Well, it lasted less than hour but anyhow. The ice of the Black Lake is getting thinner and there is water on the ice. I don`t take any changes so the ice walking is gone for this season. It is a pity.
This is not a typical friday for me. It is first time in months that there are no visitors in my log house. First I thought to get to the down town of Porvoo and crab couple of beers in Paahtimo Pub. But no, I stay here and heat up the sauna and keep good fire in the fire place. Tomorrow there is a house warming party of my good friend. He is a member of the famous Skata fishing club. I can tell you these parties are loud.

Tänään oli taasen kunnon sumu. Tein Siirin kanssa aamulenkin ja kävimme tarkastamassa jänisten makuupaikat, eipä löytynyt mitään. Jälkiä on metsä täynnä. Hirven, ketun ja ilveksen jälkiä. Tämä komea kissapeto ei näemmä asumuksia kaihda. Se katsastaa ruokintakatosten läheltä itselleen saalista. Jäälle ei enää ole menemistä, vaikkakin perusjää on edelleen paksua. Jään päällä on vettä ja altapäin taasen puhaltavat lähteet vettä jäähän. Jäässä on petollisia sulakohtia, niihin ei auta pudota lumikenkien kanssa.
Lumet sulavat nyt vauhdilla. Toisaalta metsässä on edelleen paikoitellen runsaasti lunta joten lumikengät ovat edelleen tarpeen. Täällä Ilolassa on perinteisesti enemmän lunta kuin Porvoon keskustassa, puhumattakaan Helsingistä. Mikroilmasto näemmä tekee sen ja korkeat mäet. Nyt on hienoin aika vuodesta kun kevät on juuri tuloillaan. Tiaisten laulu on nyt jatkuvaa ja aloittaa lintujen kevätlaulannan.
